CMDB Item Classes
CMDB item classes allow you to profile your organization’s CMDB items or categorize them according to their function in an organization, for example, Sales, or Marketing.
A CMDB (Configuration Management Database) Item Class is a way to classify and manage the diverse items within your organization's CMDB. It allows for organization-specific classification, separate from the multi-level hierarchy of CMDB entity types, by enabling the creation, renaming, or deletion of these classes. Unlike CMDB entity types, CMDB Item Classes are not directly linked to specific CMDB item types, offering flexible categorization based on the unique needs of the organization.
You can create, rename or delete classes. Classes are not linked to CMDB item types.
You may wish to classify your organization’s CMDB items by defining and configuring your own CMDB Item Types. ASM Core supports the creation of a multi-level hierarchy of CMDB entity types but not of CMDB Item Classes.
