# Dashboard Management Security Role

### Before you start

You must have **Security Roles setup** selected in the Admin tab of your own **General Access security role** before you can assign or remove permissions for any security roles.

1. Select the Menu button, then **Admin**, then select **System Administration**.
2. The System Administration window appears.
3. Expand the **Security Roles** group in the Explorer pane, scrolling up if necessary. 
4. Select the Dashboard Role from the list in the Explorer pane. A browse table displays all of the existing roles of this type. Now you can create, update or rename a Dashboard security role.

The pre-defined role **All** typically has all role options selected. However, some of the options are not selected by default and you should explore the permissions set before assigning the role.

5. If you want to create a role, select the Plus icon and assign the role a name in the **Role Name** field.
6. To view or update a role, select the role in the browse table and select the Action Icon.
7. You can specify whether the analysts with this role can have access to Dashboards, Dashboards Designer, and if security should be enabled.

From 10.6.8 Hermes MR 2024 the role page is changed to be able to handle multiple sites/servers.

### Synchronize Categories

This option will perform a sync between SyncFusion and the Application.

### Enabling Security and Selecting Dashboards

1. To enable security, that is, to control access to dashboards, select the categories you wish to grant access and either double-click to add the category or select the **Add to List** box.
