# Searching for Items

You can search using:

* The search function from the main menu ![](/files/TgdJxKGK0RJnQPPaOh44)
* Search windows
* Outstanding Item searches

{% embed url="<https://vimeo.com/804208782>" %}

If you find that you regularly carry out the same search, that is, you always specify the same search criteria, you can save the search, so that you can run it again as required, and retrieve the latest data.

You can share saved searches with other analysts, who might find them useful, and view searches that other analysts have shared with your IPK or Workflow group.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Global searching can be restricted by organization.**

When enabled for an Analyst, search results for Calls, Tasks, Requests, CMDB and Organizations will be limited to the selected Organizations linked to that Analyst’s profile. This effectively grants an Analyst global search capability whilst restricting results to only that which he or she has been granted access.

{% endhint %}
