IPK Streams
You can define your IPK Streams (such as Hardware and Software) and link them to IPK Statuses (including Incident, Major Incident and Problem).
When Analysts log a call in ASM Core, they can select the IPK status and a corresponding stream for the call. For example, if you create two IPK streams, Software, and ‘Standard’, and link both streams to the IPK status, Incident, when an analyst logs a call as an Incident, they will be able to select either Software or Standard as the stream.
The purpose of defining streams and linking them to statuses is the following:
to make only specific streams available to particular IPK statuses
to simplify the call logging process by allowing you to configure your call logging screen based on an IPK status/stream/type combination
to allow you to restrict access to the streams to which an Analyst has access through their IPK security role
For a specific call screen to be displayed for an IPK Stream, the call screen set must be linked to the IPK stream through the matrix on either the Link Stream/Status to Call Screen Set, or Link Type/Stream/Status to Call Screen Set window. The matrix you will use will depend on your IPK Settings.
Creating a Stream
As some parameters are read from the database at application start-up, we recommend that there are no Analysts logged on when you make changes to system settings.
Ensure you are in the correct partition before applying the settings.
The IPK Streams option is only enabled if you are using the IPK Tiers feature, that is, if Enable IPK Statuses and Streams is selected in the IPK Settings window.
We recommend you configure IPK statuses before adding IPK streams, since streams can be linked to statuses.
Select ≡ > Admin > System Administration.
The System Administration window appears.
In the Explorer pane, expand IPK Management.
Select IPK Streams to open the window. A browse table shows all of the current streams, and the statuses linked to the stream. You can adjust the column widths if required.
Select the New icon. A new row is inserted in the browse table.
In the IPK Stream column, type a name for the stream. You can now associate this stream with the configured IPK statuses.
Select the checkbox for each status you want to link to the stream.
Save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.
