Asset Management - Transaction Status

A number of default statuses are provided with ASM Core, which Analysts can use when creating and updating transactions. You can define further statuses if necessary.

The following statuses are available by default:

Adding a Transaction Status

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access Security Role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if/how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are in the correct partition.

You can define multiple transaction statuses and link them to asset pools, but the number of pools and their names are static.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed. In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select Asset Management - Transaction Status from the Explorer pane. The Transaction Status window lists all current Transaction statuses and the Asset Pools with which they are associated.

  3. Select . A new row is added to the browse table.

  4. In the Status list, type the name or description of the type of transaction status you wish to define.

  5. From the Pool list, select the pool to which you want to make the transaction status available:

Ordered

Items on order and not yet available to be used within the organization

On Hand – Available

Items that are purchased and available to be allocated to a Person or CMDB item

On Hand – Unavailable

Items that are purchased but not yet available to be allocated to a person or CMDB item in the organization

In Use

Items currently being used by a Person or CMDB item

Reserved

Items that are currently reserved and intended to be allocated to a person or CMDB item

Retired

Items that have been decommissioned

  1. Repeat for each transaction status you want to create.

  2. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Viewing Transaction Statuses

You can display a list of current transaction statuses, as well as details held against them, such as the pools for which they are available.

Updating a Transaction Status

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed. In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select Asset Management - Transaction Status from the Explorer pane. The Transaction Status window lists all current Transaction statuses and the Asset Pools with which they are associated.

  3. Update the details, as necessary.

  4. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Deleting a Transaction Status

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access Security Role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if/how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are in the correct partition.

You cannot delete default statuses.

You cannot reverse this procedure. If you delete an entry by mistake, you have to re-create the entry by adding a new transaction status.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed. In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select Asset Management - Transaction Status from the Explorer pane. The Transaction Status window lists all current Transaction statuses and the Asset Pools with which they are associated.

  3. Select the transaction status entry you want to delete from the list.

  4. Select . If you attempt to delete the system default, you will receive a warning message.

  5. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.
