# Configuring Event Management

The Integration Platform allows you to configure ASM Core to handle events received from an external system such as a network discovery tool or root cause analysis application.

This can result in the automatic logging of a call or request in ASM Core, and thereafter, updates to the call or request through various event management Transactions.

### Event Management Configuration Process

The process for configuring the ASM Core for Event Management includes the following main steps:

1. Enable event management.
2. Define connectors.
3. Define sources.
4. View the event types defined for a particular event source
5. Create and manage mappings for a particular event type, that is, configure how a specific event type will be handled within ASM.
