Managing AI Ops Rules

This Page will describe how to setup and maintain your AI Ops Rules.

The AI Ops Rules window enables you to add, edit and delete an AI Ops rule.

Activating a Rule

Before you start

Before using AI Ops, ensure that:

  • You have AI Ops selected in the Admin tab of your General Access Security Role.

  • You have access to other relevant areas such as IPK, Workflow, CMDB and SLM (if you need to edit or define AI Ops rules using criteria from these areas).

A rule will only run if:

  • All the mandatory information has been specified in the AI Ops Wizard and it has been activated.

  • The ASM AI Ops Polling Service is running on the ASM server (enables events to be logged automatically by the system).

  1. The AI Ops Rules window appears, with any existing rules listed in the browse table.

  2. Find your rule in the browse table and ensure that the information is complete.

  3. f you did not complete one of the mandatory steps in the wizard, the Rule Title will display as [Incomplete] in the browse table. You can complete the details by editing the rule.

  4. Ensure that the rule has not expired by checking the expiry date. You can change the dates by editing the rule.

  5. Select the Active checkbox.

  6. If you want to deactivate a currently active rule (that is, stop it from running), clear Active.

Editing a Rule

Before you start

Before using AI Ops, ensure that:

  • You have AI Ops selected in the Admin tab of your General Access Security Role.

  • You have access to other relevant areas such as IPK, Workflow, CMDB and SLM (if you need to edit or define AI Ops rules using criteria from these areas). If your security role prevents you from accessing certain areas of ASM, you may not be able to edit a rule set up using criteria (such as Call or Request details) from these areas. For instance, if you are not an IPK Analyst, you will not be permitted to edit a rule using IPK values as the rule criteria.

A rule will only run if all the mandatory information has been specified in the AI Ops Wizard and it has been activated.

  1. The AI Ops Rules window appears, with any existing rules listed in the browse table.

  2. Follow the steps in the AI Ops Wizard.

  3. If you know the step you need, you can select it from the left hand pane.

  4. If a rule is running when you edit the Data Set, Selection Criteria, Grouping Criteria, Running Time and Date, you will get a warning. If you get this warning popup, select Yes or No:

    • Yes enables the system to see the updated rule as a new rule (that is, rerun the analysis as if the rule had never run before).

    • No enables the system to see the rule as an existing rule (that is, continue to run the analysis and, if relevant, link any new calls or requests to previous open calls or requests triggered by the rule).

Deleting a Rule
